New Patient referrals
Outpatient referrals can be made to The Blood Unit Haematology clinic or to one of haematologists specifically -

- Dr Kirsten Herbert
- A/Prof Max Wolf
- A/Prof Michael Dickinson
and they will be triaged to be seen as soon as possible. A written referral from a general practitioner or specialist is required for all new outpatient referrals and please be advised that referrals must be received and triaged by one of our haematologists before an appointment can be made.

Inpatient referrals
Requests for consultation for Cabrini Inpatients can be made by calling our Inpatient Haematology Service on 0499 300 777 or ask for The Blood Unit Consultant via Cabrini Hospital Switchboard 95081222.
Emergency Department referrals
All haematologists within The Blood Unit participate in the haematologist on-call roster for the Cabrini Hospital Emergency Department, or you can refer a patient to the Emergency Department and specifically request one of our haematologists by name.
Haematological Emergencies
The Blood Unit also provides an urgent consulting service for bleeding and clotting emergencies, and urgent referrals for other acute cases. For During hours and After hours and urgent referrals call The Blood Unit Consultant on 0499 300 777. Our Haematologist is available 24 hours a day. Alternatively you can call Cabrini Hospital Switchboard 95081222 and ask for The Blood Unit Consultant on ward service.
